The predation of bats by snakes, though sporadically documented, highlights a fascinating
predator-prey interaction that has remained understudied due to the nocturnal habits of bats and
the inaccessibility of their roosts. Existing studies suggest that snake predation on bats, known as
chiropterophagy, may be more widespread than previously assumed. This paper examines global
accounts and presents novel observations of snake-bat interactions in India, where such instances
are rarely reported.
